  Promise Made...

Rural hospitals are vital to keeping quality health care close to home. At Harrison County Community Hospital, we understand the specific needs of hometown hospitals, and the work in the community to create a partnership that maintains local involvement while providing the necessary resources to expand services, recruit professional staff and enhance technology.

We continue to be committed to use economics of scale through volume purchasing agreements that reduce operating costs, and allow for more favorable 3rd party contracting. We are continuing to move towards services emphasizing family-centered acute care.

Our medical staff and governing board realize that our community's health needs are unique, and through a collaborative effort with each community within our district, you can help hometown hospitals deliver the health care services you have come to depend upon.

Promise Kept...

The Harrison County Community Hospital at a recent board meeting received a financial report showing the hospital had experienced a $757,958 net gain in revenue over expenses for the fiscal year that ended March 31, 2003.  The hospital in October 2001 received designation as a "Critical Access Hospital" under the Medicare program.  The hospital has since made great strides in improving its financial condition.  The "CAH" program allows the hospital to recover a larger portion of its operating  expenses through reimbursements from Medicare.

The much improved financial condition of the hospital has put it on a fast track to technology improvements.  The "Promise Made" of providing the necessary resources to expand services, and enhance technology.  The hospital board approved the purchase of a $55,000 mammography unit and a $62,000 bone densitometer for the radiology department.  The new equipment has enabled the hospital to offer one-stop services for patients receiving a mammography and bone density examination.
