Laboratory

Harrison County Community Hospital has a full services laboratory with testing capabilities in Routine Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Immunology and Endocrinology. Special Testing, Serology, Microbiology, Toxicology Cytology and Histology procedures provided on a daily basis by Physician's Reference Laboratory of Overland Park Kansas. We provide quality testing using the latest equipment available.

These test results are used by our area physicians, Nursing Homes, Health Agencies and visiting Clinic Physicians to diagnose and care for their patients in a timely manner. Our Laboratory Technologists are dedicated to the quality care for patients of all ages. HCCH Laboratory is compliant with the regulations put forth by the Health Care Financing Administration (HFCA). The Laboratory is staffed 24 hours a day for emergency situations. Outpatient testing is provided on weekdays during routine business hours or by special appointment outside of these hours. The Laboratory would like to express its appreciation for the opportunity to serve the community and looks forward to continuing a quality relationship in the coming years.

Health Information

Harrison County Community Hospital's Health Information Department processes and audits all patient Medical Records and works with the hospital's Medical Staff to make sure they are complete and compliant with all state and federal regulations. Completion of the Medical Record is a very important part of the billing and reimbursement process of a hospital and the Health Information Department performs coding on all charts to properly receive the correct reimbursement. The Health Information Department is also responsible for transcribing all dictated reports, completing all hospital stay.

The Health Information Department also releases patient medical information with proper authorization to various physicians, insurance companies and other agencies as requested.

Radiology

Our Radiology Department offers a variety of services which include; general x-ray and fluoroscopy exams. It is well equipped, well staffed and eager to serve your healthcare needs!  All radiographic exams are interpreted by board certified Radiologists on a daily basis. The department is staffed 24 hours a day and has registered technologists to serve you. On call service is offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 

CT Scanner
The Harrison County Community Hospital is proud to have one of the most technologically advanced CT scanners in the area.  The scanner utilizes multislice technology.  This technology dramatically improves the diagnostic efficiency of CT examinations by simultaneously acquiring 16 x 0.5mm data slices during a single rotation, therefore providing clearer visualization.
Ultrasound
The Ultrasound Department includes 2 registered technologists who perform all ultrasound procedures including vascular and cardiac studies.  A Nuclear Medicine technologist is available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for your convenience. 

Bone Densitometer

Harrison County Community Hospital's radiology department does complete bone density scans with a bone densitometry, a noninvasive technology that is used to measure bone mass. Bone mass, simply put, is the weight of the skeleton, overall or in specific regions.  Bone mineral density, or BMD, reveals a risk factor for fractures and assists in diagnosing Osteoporosis.  Early detection can aid in treatment.

Mobile MRI
Mobile MRI services are offered on Monday afternoons, Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons.  A MRI is also called magnetic resonance imaging. It is an imaging method used by radiologists to view internal body structures using combinations of radio waves and magnetic fields. An MRI is  noninvasive device which  creates, three-dimensional, internal images of the soft tissues of the body, including the brain, spinal cord and muscle.  
Mammography
Mammography is a specific type of imaging that uses a low-dose x-ray system for examination of the breasts. The images of the breasts can be viewed on film at a view box or as soft copy on a digital mammography work station.

HC Rehab

HC rehab is a full-service rehabilitation service.  We have a staff of dedicated physical and occupational therapist who evaluate and develop a plan for rehabilitation.  They provide techniques such as gait training, strengthening techniques, joint mobility and assistance with activities of daily living.

Dietary

Our Dietary department serves appetizing, attractive and satisfying meals and refreshments, prepared and served under high standards of sanitation, to meet the nutritional and therapeutic needs of our patients in accordance with the Physicians orders. We also prepare meals for the hospital staff, and hospital guests. Our department has a Registered Dietitian consultant and offers diet instruction monthly.

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac Rehabilitation is an outpatient program at Harrison County Community Hospital. It is designed to improve physical conditioning and to educate patients regarding risk factors for heart disease and lifestyle changes. the program consists of 12-36 sessions. Sessions are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and each session requires about an hour.
Cardiac Rehab is covered by Medicare, most Medicare supplements, and most insurance after a heart attack or open heart surgery. If you have had a balloon, stint, or are on medication because you can't have surgery you may still qualify. Home Health Services

Established in 1998, Harrison County Community Hospital Home Health Services serves residents of Harrison, Gentry, Worth, Mercer, and Daviess counties. We provide Skilled Nursing, Home Health Aides, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Medical Social Services. We also provide In-Home Services which includes Homemaker/Chore, Personal Care, and Advanced Personal Care. All services are provided under the direction of a physician.

Lifeline

Lifeline units allow you or your family member to move through the home and yard with the assurance of a direct link to emergency responders.  These units, installed at the home, provide peace of mind for unexpected falls or medical conditions.  Please contact the hospital for more information on this valuable service.
