Fun Run Donation Helps Local Cancer Patients

11/19/2018

Harrison County Community Hospital recently presented a $5,800 check to the Harrison County Cancer Transportation Fund. The money was raised during the ninth annual Hospital Hill Fun Run and Walk, which was held October 13.

The Transportation Fund provides financial assistance for Harrison County residents who have been diagnosed with cancer and are traveling to medical appointments. The Fund is administered by a group of local volunteers, and all donations to the Fund benefit local patients.

The Hospital Hill Fun Run and Walk, which is organized by hospital staff volunteers, has raised nearly $56,000 to support local cancer patients since 2010.

Hospital staff presented the check to Transportation Fund coordinators Carole Barton and Rhonda Deskins.

“It makes me very proud to see what the hospital’s Fun Run has accomplished in our county,” said Deskins.
