History
Harrison County Community Hospital (HCCH) has been caring for the health of our communities for over 70 years.
The principal contribution for the construction of Noll Memorial Hospital was donated by Mr. and Mrs. J.E. (Jake) Noll and Laura B. Noll, widow of Joseph Noll, as a gift to the community from which their family prospered. The five-acre site on which the hospital was constructed was provided by Dr. Beulah Cushman and Mrs. W.W. Bailey, in support of their father A.F. Cushman, who dreamed that someday a community hospital would be built on the plot of land.
Construction of Noll Memorial Hospital was chartered in Bethany, Missouri, on November 27, 1951, as a nonprofit institution. Construction of the new facility at the junction of highways 69, 136, and 13 was made possible by private donations.
The Bethany Clinic provided equipment that had been previously used in the former Bethany Hospital. The remainder of the financing for the hospital construction and equipment was made through gifts and pledges paid over a three-year period. The construction of the original 26-bed facility consisted of one level and a basement.
In the early 1960s, a new wing was added to the original structure.
In 1989 the voters of Harrison County approved the formation of a hospital district that had the ability to issue a tax levy to help support the community hospital. The hospital facility was leased to the Harrison County Hospital District on April 1, 1990. At that time, the hospital district took over full administration of the hospital operations.
The property was permanently transferred from the Noll Memorial Hospital Association to the Harrison County Hospital District on June 17, 1991.
Harrison County Community Hospital gained designation as a Critical Access Hospital under the Medicare program in October 2001.
Since that time the hospital facility has continued to grow and upgrade. Renovations include a new admissions area, emergency department, waiting room, surgical suite, physical and occupational therapy department, and expanded space for lab and radiology.
HCCH began providing primary care on May 3, 2010, when the hospital acquired Bethany Medical Rural Health Clinic from Drs. Natu and Hansa Patel. The clinic was renamed Bethany Medical Clinic.
Senior Life Solutions, an innovative outpatient group counseling program for Medicare-age individuals, was established in 2012.
Primary care services expanded again in August 2013 when HCCH acquired the medical practice of longtime Bethany physician, Dr. Terry Hall. Dr. Hall, along with Dr. Greg Dean and nurse practitioner Jayne Doolittle, joined the HCCH staff in the newly renamed Harrison County Family Health Center.
July 2014 brought expansion beyond Bethany when the new North Harrison Medical Clinic in Eagleville began seeing patients.
In October 2021, HCCH’s two Bethany medical clinics, Harrison County Family Health Center and Bethany Medical Clinic, merged to create the HCCH Medical Clinic. HCCH Medical Clinic began seeing patients on October 12th, at the previous Bethany Medical Clinic location, 3202 Miller Street. Harrison County Family Health Center's staff relocated to HCCH Medical Clinic, which now employs over 30 medical personnel, including four physicians and four mid-level providers.
The former Harrison County Family Health Center was remodeled and is the new location of HCCH In-Home Services, and Therapy Services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapies.
