April Community Update

We are thrilled to announce that dirt work has commenced on the new Harrison County Community Hospital site. This marks a significant milestone in our journey toward a state-of-the-art facility that will enhance healthcare services for our community.

The relocation of 39th Street is estimated to be completed by the end of July 2024. This will improve access to the new hospital and ensure smoother traffic flow.

HCCH is grateful for the tax dollars we receive, which make up about 2.3% of our yearly budget of $32 million from the previous year. That’s roughly $700,000 in tax receipts, covering 7-8 days of our operating expenses. Historically, we have spent this money on essential equipment like imaging, laboratory tools, and inpatient beds. We plan to keep using tax dollars for future equipment needs. The hospital district can charge up to $0.50 for every $100 of property value, but any tax rate increase now needs voters’ approval.

The new facility’s enhancements and new services include:

  • Private inpatient rooms and bathrooms, with the ability to convert two rooms into semi-private rooms if needed.
  • MRI scanning will be located inside the imaging services suite for improved convenience and comfort for patients.
  • Enhanced emergency room with a behavioral health safe room, decontamination entry and rooms, and shared nurse’s station.
  • Expanded therapy services department with increased space for treatments and a larger gym area for patients’ rehabilitation.
  • Expansion of outpatient specialty clinics for specialists such as cardiologists, nephrologists, and orthopedic physicians.
  • Planned infusion area for IV therapy and future oncology services.
  • A surgery suite with a large operating room, a separate procedure room, and a separate gastroenterology room.

To help the community better understand the project, we have created a frequently asked questions (FAQ) page on our website. Visit www.hcchospital.org and navigate to the Future Hospital page to find answers to common questions about the project.

We are excited about the progress of the new hospital project and look forward to providing enhanced healthcare services to our community. Stay tuned for more updates.
