Hospital Welcomes Allergist
Dr. Haroon Khalid, a specialist in allergies, asthma and immunology, will hold monthly clinics at Harrison County Community Hospital on the second Friday of each month beginning August 10.
Dr. Khalid, who is board certified in internal medicine and board eligible in allergy and immunology, received his medical degree from King Edward Medical University. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Allergy, Asthma & Immunology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He is an active member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology as well as the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology.
As an allergist and immunologist, Dr. Khalid says his primary goal is to help educate patients and develop an individualized treatment plan to improve their quality of life and health. Among the conditions he treats are hay fever, environmental allergies, food allergies, allergic insect and drug reactions, sinus problems, asthma, hives, contact dermatitis, eczema, and immune system disorders.
An allergy and immunology specialist is a physician specially trained to diagnose, treat and manage allergies, asthma and immunologic disorders, according to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. Many items can trigger allergic reactions. Those allergens include plant pollens, molds, dust mites, cockroaches, pets, industrial chemicals, foods, medicines and insect stings.
